First off, I want to thank God for my wonderful wife and son. Dean’s Diggers is based on my 3 year old son. Like other young boys, he loves his cars, tractors, trains, and construction equipment. He can sit and watch a digger and be content with life. It is so much fun listening to him make the sounds and driving his toy diggers.
One day I had a God-inspired moment. It was like someone whispered in my head, write a book about diggers. I never in my life thought about writing a children's book, especially one about construction equipment. At first, I dismissed it and said yeah, right! Me, write a book! Ha, ha! Good one! After several weeks of dismissing the idea, I decided that I would give it a try and do one page to show to people, to see what they thought. I did one rough page and I showed it to several different people. They loved it, even their kids loved it. After that I knew I had to give it a try. Then I thought, what should I call this book. Just then my wife said, "Call it Dean’s Diggers". I said, "That's perfect, it's based off our son's middle name, and he can be the main character!" The first cartoon drawing of my son looked so good, and I was so excited, that I almost cried. Maybe it is a father thing. After many months of working on the book, I am proud to present Dean’s Diggers. It is so much fun to spend time reading and playing with my son. I hope that you also can spend many precious moments with your children reading and having fun with them. Please feel free to contact me with any comments or ideas.
